Château Bel Air-Marquis d'Aligre
Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend
Good fruit. Precise. Lots of character. Inky with some lifted violets. Pretty

Mar 17th, 2022Full of delicate, transparent red and blue fruit. Aching freshness. Licorice, violet, blackberry, vanilla, some just-baked butter pastry, a salty savory play-dough quality, and mint. Wow. Far and away the best Bel Air Marquis D’Aligre I’ve tried, blows away the ‘95 and ‘10.

The vineyard is a real outlier with the wines made by the same maker since 1950 and some vines on original pre phylloxera rootstock. The transparency of vineyard and romance of winemaking combined.
