Nose has blueberry jam smeared on tanned leather, cold blackberries, dry potting soil and seasoned oak firewood.
Palate has blackberry jam, dried black currant, blackberry fruit leather (if anyone actually makes that, like I need some), well roasted pepper, moist garden soil with medium-light tannins.
A fantastic pairing to home-made meat loaf this evening, a beef/pork blend from our best upstate NY purveyors, delicious!
Last bottle of a 6-pack procured in February 2015, at $17 Médoc is always a good region to buy and hold. In proper storage this can go thru 2025+.

1 person found it helpfulOct 17th, 2020This is a hard wine to judge as it needs about 3 hours to open up. ...after that, it's quite nice. Burnt sugar creme brûlée nose and a light but dry palate. A touch of bell pepper on the finish. I'd say this is a sophisticated table wine.
