Ideal maturity! Like Pontet-Canet and Leoville-Barton, Gruaud made a better 1994 than the more famous 1995 & 1996. This isn't just good for an off year- with prime rib it is great cassis loaded, medium bodied, vibrant claret.

This 21 year old got younger and younger as it opened up. It is full of vigorous Cabernet fruit and still has good tannic structure. A very fine bottle with prime top sirloin.

I like the best of the 1994's better than the 1995's or 1996's, and this old school claret is one of them. Wow- earth, cassis fruit and good lift on the long finish.

No decant, let this evolve in the glass over a few hours. At 22 years young this is still very alive with notes of leather, dark fruits, cassis mostly and the tannins are integrated but present on this long lingering finish. Good structure and acidity, loving this 2nd growth

A bit green leaning but delicious with a chuleton. A classic claret.
