Lovely on the nose, particularly after air brought out the plum and spice I often find from the Lafite family, but still a little tight and not fully together on the palate.

Probably should have decanted, as this showed best towards the end of the evening (and bottle). Classic Lafite signatures of graphite, cedar, and (fading) cassis/black cherry. Better focused at cellar temp than room temp. Time to drink up, but still showing the world elegance and poise of its terroir.

Exceptional year, a bit tired yet still holding fruit. Blackberry & bramble. Sweet toffee in the wood. Lucky to have been able to try.

A decent £25 bottle of Bordeaux - sadly it's actually about £200 per bottle.

A group favorite but bested by an ‘89 Beaucastel if you can believe that.
