A nice poised nose. A little under for a 2009. Quite cold blooded and a bit lacking in the mid palate. Compared to the 2009 Baron this is miles away. Disappointing

The 2009 Chateau Pichon Lalande is a thrilling wine to savor at now eleven years of age. Needing a one hour decant to be fully expressive, this glorious Bordeaux opens with a deep core of tar, chocolate covered espresso bean and blackberry compote aromas that take shape in the glass. The dense, chewy mouthfeel is lined with moderate tannins that provide the backbone alongside the bright acidity. Layers of dark fruits are woven together with creosote and shades of Turkish coffee and cassis on this expressive palate — all leading to the exceptional long and inviting finish. Truly sensational now, this beautiful, warm vintage Bordeaux will cellar well for at least another fifteen years. Be sure to give this a long decant if enjoying in its youth. Drink 2020-2040- 95

Contained and plush. Allon place but not showing a huge amount right now... but the balance is great.

Very red fruited. Raspberry reduction with boysenberries. Ripe and polished, this wine is showing great for its youth. Coffee and chocolate are complemented by forest floor and red clay. Lengthy and just super clean and great.

Second growth that rarely disappoints. Complex, inviting nose with ripe cassis, toffee, caramel, fig compote and cedar. Beautifully balanced, savory mouthfeel but needs at least 5 more years to come on its own.

Opulent, already drinking so well but long decant, this will be hard to keep your hands off.

Big, ripe rich. Pretty nose. Quite young. Touch hot.
