Christian Gavignet-Bethanie et Filles
Les Chaignots Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Pinot Noir
Very last bottle of this. Again the cork is fully soaked. The nose is typical cherry and red berries, along with an earthy thing and a bit of hay. The palate is acid driven and very long. There is a nice matter, a gentle mouthfeel, a nice cherry and red berries note all along, almost a sweet spot on the sides. In the rear some tannins pop in creating a layer of disturbance in the mouthfeel that remains hanging in there for a very long finish with fruit. It's very good but it's starting to show early signs of aging and I don't believe the bottle could have waited much longer before going south. A little less fruity than aux damodes, a bit stricter and longer. Cool nevertheless

Dec 19th, 2021It's been a while since I last opened one of these. And I'm a bit concerned. The cork is fully soaked. I was afraid I would destroy it while pulling it but it held quite well. The other bottles I have won't stay on the side too long. The nose is cherry, iron, hay and that earthy thing I connect with burgundy wines. The palate is great! Strong acid backbone, superb cherry and subtle vanilla notes, good width and matter, some tannins in the rear leaving a layer of dust. The finish is fruit and that mouthfeel with dust. This a great!

Nov 6th, 2021Hay, cherry, an earthy ferral thing too. The palate is great: good acid backbone with some length, a bright, radiant cherry all along, some tannins in the rear to spice things up, a good grip and sweet, smooth mouth feel, and a very long fruity finish. Gosh this is tasty!

Apr 11th, 2020Nose of cherry, iron, vanilla. The palate is very well balanced with fruits and an acid backbone that goes a long way. The finish makes vanilla come back, and cherry too. I like it very much but prefer aux damodes in the same vintage
