De Loach Vineyards
Heritage Reserve California Pinot Noir
A gift I opened to tide me through watching the Oscars. Green leaf and briar notes in nose, with an undercurrent of raspberry and blackberry. Slightly peppery and tart initially, light tannins with decent berry (black, blue) and slight cherry and cranberry character. Spice flavor emerges later. Highly drinkable if not 100% on point varietally; then again, I drink mostly Oregon pinots these days, so what do I know about the range of Pinot styles from California today?

Jun 2nd, 2018Great nose holds lots of promise. But fails to deliver. Very "tongue forward" flavor, but nothing else. Very boring and bland.
