Today was my annual hosting of the Wednesday Wine Committee. There was 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds and 1 dessert, all provided by me. Tasted blind, as always.

Red wine number three. You can tell there is the addition of Howell Mtn fruit in this with its wildly gripping tannins and the smallest hint of mint. Nose smells of American oak (even though this was all French oak)...has that sweet dill/coconut note. Lush blue and black fruits on the palate and cedar. Nutmeg too. Kirsch and dusty finish. Consistently a top performer for Napa Valley CabFranc.

Wouldn’t be a holiday without our favorite cab franc! We are doing our best to let ‘13s rest a while and starting to open the ‘14s. Believe it or not, I think the ‘14 will out live the ‘13. Nice acid but not overpowering. A mouthful of dark, deep, thick fruits. I could've waited, I probably should've waited but I didn't. I did love it still. But I love cab franc.
