Cactus wax. Rich yellow sunshine tone. Spicy sweet floral figs. Cigarillo smoke. Anchovy, in the best salty umami sense. Bay and decomposing eucalyptus. Oily sweet richness to acid. Flinty minerals. Pickles (dill & shallots) and schmaltz richness. Captivating.

Striking out at Verre Volé after several wines, the first of which was Ganevat vinegar for $30+, "Rien que de fruit". This on the other hand was apple juice with som RS and little varietal character. I just can't get behind places that sport grand ideologies. However, the food we had was great and they really tried to please us with no pretense. So where to go in Paris?

Shy at first, this Jasnières becomes exponentially expressive to the finish. Eric Nicolas has a seat among the great vignerons of the world. A humbling experience. A tribute to the great many Presidents who have lead this country. -DM
