French Southern Rhône red blend. Tannic. and dry to end. Oak, spice Old World wine. Needs to be eaten with food. Would overpower White fish. Oily Salmon would be a better choice.

A cigar wrapped in chocolate.

The nose, if you can get past the alcohol burning off of this 3 hour decanted Vacq.

Rotting plum, hickory staves, prune jam.
This wine comes in like a butterfly, and stings like a bee.

All around amazing balance of grapes. Mellow sweetness and smooth finish. Hints of plum and dark chocolate. Low acidity and silky mouthfeel.

2012v. Decanted for an hour. Menthol and herb dominate the nose. Dark blackberries and cherries, pepper, a little black olive and licorice on the palette. Violet from mourvedre is detectable on the finish. Mild tannins. Works well with my beef stew, but it's not really the type of wine I'd drink on its own; alcohol throws off the balance just a bit. 60% grenache, 25% syrah, 15% mourvedre. 14.5% ABV.

Typical southern Rhone funk on the nose which I adore. Well structured and good effort if not ethereal. Enjoyed this with a nice braised beef and mushroom dinner.
