A reminder that these were all tasted blind and as it turned out the fabled Romanee Conti was first. My notes - Lovely sexy nose of violets. Ripe yet restrained - aristocratic. Minerally, savoury with an incredible long finish. Fine tannins but will blossom. Actually my least pointed wine in the 6 Vosne Romanee Grand Crus. I'm sure it would not have been had I known its identity!

2013 vintage. From Jay. Domaine de la Romanee Conti Romanee Conti 2013 - Quick Note/Initial Thoughts: Ruby colour. Very restrained on the nose. Some red fruit showing through together with a hint of black tea but otherwise this is giving little away at this stage. Very silky across the mid palate. Bordering on wraithlike. Tannins are both smooth and silky and wine has fabulous balance. The finish is everything you would expect in terms of length and elegance. There is real substance here, with a sprinkling of fairy dust, but, as always, it will take a great deal of patience. 98+/100. 2030 to 2045+
