Les Mémoires Saumur-Champigny Cabernet Franc

The most massive of the haut cuvées, if you can call a 12.5% wine "massive". Possibly the purest expression of Cab Franc I've tasted in 35+ years of buying wines. Deep, dark and brooding at first, then layer after layer of precisely focused flavors unfold. Bravo!

2014. Young fruit is wound up tight but oh that nose of wet river stones.

Okay. Lacking much of a finish.

Only okay, expected more.

Just a bunch of ripeness. Plums,cherries. What an effort by Thierry Germain. Well done. Silky soft tannins. Beautiful.

Savory, something there.

Very approachable from the beginning although quite young. A very earthy wet smell and a beautiful magenta color.
