Cork fresh out of the bottle I got an impression of cinnamon, clove, and a nice wild berry blend to the nose. A little later came leather and a healthy amount of potpourri. Tasting brought pronounced organic earth, leather, overripe wild berries yet tart cherry and as it kept opening developed an astringent quality that I assume would have worked well with food. Only my 2nd or 3rd chateau nuf and the blend continues to impress me, but it always leaves me hoping for a little more.
