Took a while to open up. Complex nose of cedar, clove, Vicks vaporub , balsam, nutmeg, and menthol. The palate is savory; black pepper bacon, roasted lamb, rosemary, some briary red berry fruit. Finishes a bit austere. Get it now, not much runway left here.

Apr 23rd, 2017Needed more time to decant. Developed nicely over a period of about 3 hours. A bit muted on the nose and the palate is on the lighter side. Delicate, with earthy, woody notes. Tobacco and leather flavors persist. There is a nice tannic structure here, but not enough fruit to keep going much longer.
