Shake Ridge Ranch Tempranillo

Doooood. Even straight off the bottling line, Johnny "Law"'s '12 Shaker Ridger Rancher Temp is stunningly gorgeous- Take your shirt off. Twist it around yo head. Spin it like a helicopter.

This is so well rounded! Dried flowers on the nose, followed by a palate with cherry up front and black licorice (anise) that's been rolled around in the dirt and picked up some spice along the way on the finish.

Quite a pleasant drink. This is starting to help me understand certain California Tempranillo expressions. Very Cali Grenache and Cali Pinot noir-like in terms of body, texture, flavor and weight. Well-balanced.

For something so translucent in color, it's got so much to say.

There's so much going on in this wine and I just opened it 5 minutes ago. Cola, strawberry, cinnamon, some anise on the nose, a bit of sweetness that quickly turns savory on the palate. 2012 vintage.
