Freycinet Vineyard
Tasmania Pinot Noir
One of my favourite Australian Pinot Noirs and does improve with cellaring - up to 15 years say the makers. Arguably at its peak right now but will still be drinking well in 4 years - on the plateau. A lovely complex aroma of earthy, compost heap, forest floor notes with savoury Plum. Medium + Intensity on the palate with incredible length and persistence. This wine like all good Pinots speaks of its terroir which in this case is this special amphitheater in eastern Tasmania. Usually buy this annually.

Jun 24th, 2018Mid Ruby with pale Tawny rim. A nice combination of ripe aromas with undergrowth and forest floor. With air gorgeous violet notes with a touch of varnish and boot polish. Palate of black cherries/ sweet and rich with a savoury twist. One of my favourite Aussie Pinots. Could cellar for longer.

Mar 14th, 2017Has been one of Australia's best Pinot Noirs for decades IMO and much better than the previous posting I made of the JW Winner. Beautifully perfumed. Rich , long and delicious which still has a long future but very difficult to resist its charms now. 2007 vintage.

Jun 16th, 2016One of the best Pinots in Oz - from Tasmania. Fragrant nose combining mulchy forest floor notes with excellent French Oak but not overdone on the latter. Still with enough acid to cellar longer but I would prefer to drink remainder in the next few years. Excellent.

Sep 1st, 2015Lovely perfume - sappy plummy notes. Delicious palate. Silky soft tannins yet maintaining intensity. A simply brilliant Pinot. 18. #aussiewine

Apr 22nd, 2015One of Australia's best Pinots IMO. Voluminous ripe nose carrying over to an equally full palate of great length. Great concentration and future. A Pinot where 15 years cellaring like Bass Phillip, is not out of the question. 2007 vintage. 18.
