I like. And got at Vinovore the female-centric new wine store close to me! I'm trying to, one wine at a time, work my way through the wines I'd never (at least rarely) guess on a blind tasting. I so rarely drink the Gruners...I'd be stumped on this. The ripe citrus and apple-y fruit might make me say maybe Chenin Blanc. The slight gas may make me say Riesling but the acid isn't high enough. For Riesling or Chenin. The spicy notes plus honey would lead me to say maybe Pinot Gris. I'm having a hard time picking up the arugula and white pepper notes that are a Gruner tell. This has a healthy amount of spiciness and very ripe lemon contrasted with a spiciness that reminds me I need to sniff white pepper on the daily until I immediately recognize it. All these things aside, this is balanced with medium plus acid, medium plus intensity, medium plus complexity and oh a medium finish. Quality. It goes from citrus to a brief hit of honey then moves into arugula. Okay the more I contemplate the way I should know intellectually it is a Gruner. It's just I never drink them so I don't think of them. I'd pair this with a salad topped with roasted plums and peaches and maybe some sort of salty cheese and a garlicky toast. Dang I'm making NY black and white cookies right now but now am having savory cravings...these cookies aren't gonna pair up...
