I don't really think I gave this wine much of a chance, and I'm really not sure why. Rockstar winemaker Dan Gatlin has created a very nice wine. The nose is a lot of boysenberry and black cherry. Very raucous and earthy. Entry has a hint of that typical Texas tart terroir, but settles down very nicely. Sweeter red and black fruits give way to a fig and plum. the finish on this wine is exactly what this needs to go with a variety of fare: cheeses, meats, sauces and dips, BBQ. I don't know if I would hold this one too much longer, as to me the significant impression is made in the first two thirds of this wine, which will probably not improve with more bottle aging.
