Bold, rich and just enough vegetal character to remind you it’s from South Africa. Very pleasurable experience!

The nose reveals, ripe fruits of; blackberries, dark cherries, blueberries, plum skin, black raspberries, strawberries, cola, dark chocolate, vanilla, dark spice, rich dark earth, dry top soil, soft leathery notes, touch smoke, steep red fruit tea, caramel, mocha, stones with fresh & withering dark red florals.

The body is on the lighter side for Cabernet. The tannins firm and powdery. The structure, tension, length and balance are good. Ripe fruits of; blackberries, dark cherries, blueberries, plum skin, black raspberries, strawberries, cola, dark chocolate, vanilla, dark spice, rich dark earth, dry top soil, tobacco, soft dry leathery notes, touch smoke, steep red fruit tea, caramel, mocha, dark chocolate bar, crushed granitic soils, dry stones with fresh & withering dark red florals. The acidity bright. The finish has bright fruits but, is earth dominate. It’s requires five years of aging before enjoying it.

Photos of; Klein Constantia hillside vineyards, painting of their old school bottle, grounds of their Estate and large oak vats.

Callie gave me this bottle, which Joris buys in bulk. Didn’t know what to expect from South Africa. Holy moly! Lush, savory, medium bodied, well-integrated tannins. Greatly exceeded my expectations. Wish I could find more of this.

Would drink again, notable but not life-changing or altering for the price.

This wine is somewhat peculiar for a South African wine, it does have a lot of similarities to others. This wine has a lot of blackberry and black cherry influence, yet also maintaining the clove type of notes that I have come to find in a lot of these wines. This wine pour is rather dark into the glass, with a nose of floral perfume and blank teary. The palate is mostly dominated by black cherry, but enough clove enters into the equation to make it interesting. The middle of this wine goes slightly to a bacon fat sort of presentation. Finishes still rather tannic, therefore I think I'm going to let the other bottles sit for one or two years.

16.5/20 (90/100) Вино с ароматами кассиса, сухой черники, кедра и шоколада. Довольно тельное, высокая кислотность, мягкие, почти шелковистые танины. Приятное, готовое вино.
