The first of a series of 9 Grand Crus from Gevrey Chambertin from the 2016 vintage. Identities of the 9 wines known but not the order of service. Tasted blind. The first thing of note is the very groovy modernist non Burgundian label from Ponsot. Never seen anything like it. As far as the wine itself - Mid Ruby in colour. Muted nose even after vigorous swirling. On the palate dense and rich with sweet Medium plus tannins. I thought at the beginning of this group that if the Corton group was so good how great will this bracket from Gevrey be?
