Tastes very ripe. The ABV presents with more weight than heat. Structurally soft with subdued, fine tannins mostly mid-palette. Nose shows black cherries, fermented something, bean curd, saline, red wine braised beef, soy sauce, leather. Nose/palette are similar, with more chocolate cherry cordial in the mouth. This needs 30-60m decant to blow off some unpleasant funk, which presented as stewed tomatoes and sweaty leather. I’ve had the 2005 and this is a notch below.

In its sweet spot now. Drinking so smooth and lush right now. Plum, lavender, pepper, saddle leather. Bricked edges with dark maroon color. Medium acidity. A beautiful drink. From half bottle.

Maria wine dinner 5/5/17. Excellent CdP to go with grilled steak. Earthy and complex, with notes of black fruits still put present.

A powerful, rounded, almost exotic CdP with no hard-edges. I kept on going back to the wine until the bottle was dry, which btw didn't take long. I've had superb bottles from different producers from the 2007 Rhone vintage.
