Agnvs Serra Gaúcha Tannat
Deep, red purple in the glass. Color almost to the rim. Black fruit and olive paste on the bold nose and palate. Medium full body. Medium plus acidity. Firm tannins from entry to finish. Brazil gives us a somewhat lighter Tannat offering than from it’s continental neighbors in Uruguay and Argentina, but it’s a sturdy entry level for this tough to tame variety. Serve where you might normally serve Cabernet for a darker, more “Old World-ish” experience.

Jan 8th, 2018Pummeling and brutal like Tannat always is at first. opens up nicely after a brief decant. Sour acidity on the back end I don't care for.

Aug 17th, 2016My first Brazilian wine. Big and bold plum and berry aromas and flavors. Tannins are extremely chewy and sharp. The acidity is bright, which helps to balance things out. Better with food, especially beef. Thank You Ron B.

Oct 31st, 2021Hand harvested, sustainable fruit sent to stainless tanks through gravity-flow. 21 months in stainless steel and 5 months in bottle before release. Lots of red fruit, black olives, decaying flowers, smashed earth, steaming mulch, wet rock, and green coffee bean. Pure fruit. Nothing gets in the way of the terrior and essence of the grapes. Powerful, leaning towards aggressive tannins, but amazingly, they are approachable at this point already. At least for my palate. 13.5% alcohol and not as tight as one would expect from Tannat. Sturdy backbone and astringent. Just what you need with massive amounts of steak and frites.
