Madai
Origen Bierzo Mencia
Good, not great. Nose is extremely understated, showing mostly alcohol with big oak notes. Finally opened up with some subtle dark fruit after an hour or so. Mellow at most on the palate. Light and not particularly fruity, some metallic notes. Enjoyable, if not super memorable.

Feb 11th, 2017smells of earth, a little animal, candied red licorice... this has lots of oak and red fruit...does not feel particularly terroir driven....where is the delicate minerality, red berries and mencia subtlety? :(

Jan 7th, 2017Trying this Mencia for first time-- I found the fruit and aromatics balanced the typical bitter tannins well. Upgraded from 8.9 to 9.0 after a bit! At Jaleo Bethesda
