Maison Albert Bichot
Santenay Pinot Noir

Fuller than a typical burgundy Pinot. Nicer second day.

Jul 18th, 2024Maybe much better in ten years. Or maybe not, I have to remember to tone down my preference for the full-bodied Willamette Valley Pinots. Nettles on the nose. Slightly under-ripe plums on the front. Light tannic structure. Lots of high notes on the end. Since this an actual Burgundy from Burgundy, I have to give it the benefit of a doubt. So I’ll grade it as an 8.8. But if this were, say, from the Sonoma Coast, I’d give it an 8.4. Call it French grade inflation.
