Marcassin
Three Sisters Vineyard Pinot Noir
Sonoma Coast, Sonoma County, California, USA
WNH event number 3...new world Pinot. Such a treat to experience the many different variations of Pinot!
Older Marcassin pinots...what more can be said other than special. However, I think this one was quite muted on the nose and wasn’t entirely as expected. Age has leaned this out, and the red and black fruits are battling with earth and herbal components. Dirty raspberries and bay leaf on the finish. Even a slightly off bottle of Marcassin is impressive, so thanks for bringing, @David L !

Needless to say, we slayed some dragons tonight. Let the birthday week continue!
10-yrs has proved to be this wine's best friend. Black cherry, cola, and a burst of red fruit on the palate and nose. Very little Oak influence at this point.

More like a Burgundy than a typical Marcassin. Hedonistic as always but quite fine.

Sep 30th, 2013Seems to be past its prime. The cork disintegrated. Very disappointing.

Torn. So perfectly composed that it's sort of lifeless. The oak is just so. The ripeness is just so. The fruit character is flawless. But the overall result is unanimated, like a mannequin. Everything is perfect about it, but that means there's no mystery.

Sep 8th, 2014All things red. Cherry with a hint a tartness. A bit sweeter than was to be expected but finished nicely with touch of cinnamon
