McCarthy & Schiering, $12
Got tobacco notes on the cork and smoky dense jammy fruit in the glass. More of that jammy fruit on the palate, getting plum and blackberry, followed by a vanilla and spice, and finished with a peppery tannic and slightly bitter smoke. A touch hot but understandable at 14.5%, and pretty light on acid but still balanced. A bit heavier bodied than I usually prefer but really enjoyed it, one of my favorite Syrah dominant wines I've had, good value too!
