Maschio dei Cavalieri
Treviso Extra Dry Prosecco
This was another bottle from my wee shopping spree at the Chateau Guildford Cellarbrations. In terms of aesthetics, it looks like a pretty fancy Prosecco for the $16 price tag and it was great to find the contents lived up to expectations.
It's made from 100% Glera which is the main grape varietal used to make Prosecco. The grape was actually called Prosecco for many years until it became a bit of a confusion to distinguish the difference between the grape, wine and area so it was decided to stick with Glera. The Italians also wanted to reduce the possibility of sparkling wines of other origin being labelled as 'Prosecco' by using the grape variety's name.
It's a super pale yellow on the eye with straw, peach and nectarine coming through on the nose. I also like how the crisp bubbles tickle the nose when going in for a whiff. The palate has that crisp refreshing quality, typical of a Prosecco yet it's still super elegant and smooth with peach and almond flavours coming through for me. Both Mr. Spittoon and I really enjoyed this Italian bubbles 🍾
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #tcweekdaywine
