A surprise blind tasting at the end of our meal at Guy Savoy. The somm Andrew Hurley (merci beaucoup!!) blinded me on this one boy was I so wrong! Orange blossom, walnut paste, saffron, ginger candy, cinnamon, nutmeg, fig, etc. etc. And yet so fresh! Great acidity. Great balance despite >400g/L RS. I thought it was like maybe 1976. Oh boy I was 76 years off! Such a treat. This is probably the oldest wine I’ve ever had.
