A light ruby color with garnet edges. Highly impressive nose of dried cherries, black tea, and a dab of smoke. Loire Valley in Rutherford? It works, it definitely works. A little juicier and riper than most California Cab Francs, this is medium bodied with nice tannins and an overall smoothness on the palate. Old World leather, blackberries, cranberry sauce, and olives. Not nearly as green as I was expecting, there's plenty of white pepper and rosemary to give it character. Fruit and spice on the long finish. My favorite Cab Franc so far this year.
