Clos de la Bergerie Savennières Roche aux Moines Chenin Blanc

Very powerful, with a feeling of residual sugar and botrytis. Very young still.

Like rotten honey-nut kumquats eaten out of a bowl made of chalk. Rich but electric, and finished for an hour. I'm glad I bought a lot of this, because I wanna see where this goes over the next five years or so. Stood up to NOLA barbecue shrimp!

I don't generally care for these but the odd bottle is good. This one is good

Apricots and honey on a complex nose with stone fruit, nuts, botrytis, petrol and astringency on the taste. Unusual but interesting wine with years to go. Decanted for an hour.

Probably the best Savennieres I've ever had. I've had the Coulee de Serrant from the same vintage years and years ago, but it was clearly way too young. Beautiful properly aged Chenin.

Dark, certainly some oxidation and botrytis. But balanced with fresh acidity and structure. A bit of a mystery.
