Surprisingly on the subtle side for Rioja. I’m sure the 16 years it has spent in the bottle has something to do with that. Slightly reductive rubber notes out of the gate that faded into the more familiar coconut and dill of American oak. Pleasantly middle of the road with no one characteristic really standing out starkly. Balanced acidity with no tannins to speak of. It tastes like “red wine” if that makes sense.

Superb Rioja. Perfect with NY strip. Wonderfully integrated tannins at 10yrs cut that meat like butter. Killer juice!

Ruby (?), medium intensity, no sign of aging. Sour black cherry, smooth, noticeable tannins, balanced. Not much complexity. I'd never have guessed this is 10 yrs old.
