Extra Old Reserve Plantation Rum, Guatemela XO Single Cask Rum. Pale amber hue. Wonderful nose - cinamon, clove, treacle, butterscotch, Manuka honey, ripe banana, nail polish. Very aged and hugely complex. On the palate, off dry, medium body, warming alcohol - integrated, pronounced intensity: vanilla, oakwood, char, pineapple, banana flambé. Also some tobacco notes on the mid palate. Finish is remarkably long and lingering. Outstanding example of its type. High number of esters would suggest extended fermentation period and use of low wine and high wine retorts in double pot distillation and possible use of dunder.
