Very special Monte Bello, best I’ve had, rich and layered with age, nose was redolent of old leather and soft spice, smokey red fruit. Silk on the palate. Finish never ended. Superb. Could go a few more years easily but cork (not the one pictured) required the Durand so likely drink soon.

Dark tawny. Opaque. Rich silky fruit nose. Notes of rich black cherries, currants and plums, tobacco leaf, leather saddle and herbs. Silky in the mouth, almost like an aged Syrah. In a great spot. Love this MB vintage. Love this wine.

Last night in MT at the lake. Gave this several hours of air. Nice dark tawny color. Vibrant in the glass. The nose is great right away and stayed on point through the evening. Notes of black cherries, warm raspberries, old cedar, some plums and a little leather saddle. Rich and silky in the mouth. Velvet glove. Long finish. Great wine.

Opaque. Dark and brooding tawny to the rim. Fragrant seductive nose. Notes of black cherry, sweet plums, dark soil, moist forest bark and old tree leaves. With air some cherry pie filling, cracked nuts, mocha and a little clove appear. Rich and silky in the mouth. Smooth. Long finish. Still young. Really good wine.

At first i picked up a lot of acetyl in this relative to the other wines. After an hour that had blown off and this blossomed. Everything you hope for in Monte Bello.

So friggin' good I honestly can't remember the details, but I can remember that feeling of "I can't believe a wine with this much age can taste this good!"

Dark purple plum skin color from center to the rim’s edge where some scarlet also appears. Opaque. Great fruit forward nose that grabs your attention. Notes of blackberries, ripe plums, violets, tobacco, forest floor and some crushed walnuts. Rich and silky in the mouth. Great balance and texture. Tannins perfectly integrated. Long finish. If a Cal Cab can be seductive, this is it. Still youthful but in a great zone tonight.
