This is a steel fist in a velvet glove … minus the velvet glove. I never met a Tannat I didn’t like until now. Tannat is a famously big, bold, bruiser but the best of them have some fruit to temper the power. Not this one. Enough tannin in this one bottle to survive an entire case. Given my experience with other Tannats and the glowing reviews of this wine by others, I suspect I may have bought a bad bottle. $21.89 at Whole Foods. And, yes folks: all Tannats are palindromes, not just this one.
