California Carignane

2015 drunk in late 2023. Definitely showing its age.

Purple-red, lightly extracted pigment. Mushroom, strawberry and funk notes in nose; later dill note emerges. Strawberry and cherry skin flavors with licorice and hefty skin tannins, tight acid on finish initially. Needs time to open. Cranberry acid on finish emerges after 30 minutes

Dense purple-red. Some mint, red fruit, maybe butter on nose. Cherry, orange and citric flavors.

Crunchy and full of berry fruit with that odd undertone of Jersey seashore that I find so strangely compelling in Carignane. Zippy. Refreshing. Satisfying.

Dark cherry, black pepper and dried dark fruit.Strong.
