85% merlot 15% Cab franc, Yakima Valley. 16 months French oak, one year old barrels. Smoky, complex and richly textured but tannins and acidity are too unruly at this point. Needs serious time in the cellar but should be worth it.

Cold WA vintage. Pyrazines and super-high acid. NOT my favorite, but willing to give 2012 a try when released.

Tasted by Lobonick on 12/21/2013 & rated 88 points: Smoky blueberries, prunes, white pepper, and a bit of sweet spice on the nose. Palate is mouthcoating with firm tannins and a bright acidic backbone that verges on a bit sour. (Note: the sourness diminishes with air and leaves a much softer wine.) Blackberries and prunes with a touch of leather on the palate. Finish is long. Not sure if I like this a lot because it's different, or because it's that good. Either way, I'm happy.
