Sine Qua Non
And An Eight Track California Rosé
“And An Eight Track” 2013 Sine Qua Non Rose’. 15.4% alcohol. Perfect wine when it’s 90 degrees in Chicago in late September. In the words of Mr. Krankl, “Youthful Happiness.” If you’ve never tasted an SQN Rose’, prepare yourself. First, clear your mind of all preconceived notions of what a Rose’ is, or you expect it to be. Next, prepare your senses for a wild ride. Sort of like driving a Porsche Cup Car through The Kink at Road America. You might not appreciate it at the time (mainly because your life will be flashing before your eyes), but after it’s over, you can’t wait to try and convey the experience to anyone who will listen. Finally, appreciate the fact that you’ve experienced the liquid equivalent of a Chagall painting. Have I mentioned that I’m a Manfred Krankl fan?

1 person found it helpfulSep 21st, 20172013 SQN "...And An Eight Track" Rose'. I look at these as Manfred's in your face, over the top, hedonistic homage to life wines. Throw all of your preconceived notions of what a Rose' should be right out the window. These wines celebrate life. No review today. Happy Memorial Day. Don't think. Enjoy. Recently, I've had a little back and forth with a non-SQN believer who shall remain nameless. You know the type. "I just don't get SQN" (And man, do I ever hate that phrase. Surprisingly, don't think I've ever heard "I just don't get DRC"). Anyway, I let it upset me more than it should have. To each his own. Drink what you love, but for my money, give me Mr Krankl anytime!

Nov 27th, 2016Thank God this was a gift, I could not afford this on a normal day. Interesting and different, but that's what it should be from Non.

Mar 25th, 20162013, impressive for the age. The color was almost deep enough to think it was a straight grenache, not a rose. Simply put every time I try them I expect an out of balanced high octane wine, yet they never seem to disappoint.
