Very pale lemon in colour. Aromas of gooseberry, citrus blossom and barrel ferment characters - a bit toasty and nutty. Blended with a touch of Semillon and Sauvignon Gris. On the palate peachy notes - fulsome in the mouth. An excellent wine, all the better for the oak maturation. Richard Heming MW said of this wine “could be Graves or Pessac Leognan”. I really enjoyed this - from one of New Zealand’s best estates. Had my final bottle 6 weeks later on 4th October 2020 with consistent notes - delicious wine.

Passion fruit notes on nose and palate. A refreshing drink but somewhat one dimensional. The minimal oak treatment is hardly noticeable. I think there are better regions for Sauvignon Blanc than Hawkes Bay eg Marlborough although Te Mata remains a 5 Star producer in New Zealand - better known for their Cabernet and Shiraz.

Pale to Mid Lemon in colour. Aromas of passion fruit with some barrel ferment character. Refreshing with low acid. A little Sauvignon Gris and Semillon in the blend so the label says. A delicious wine. A little oak complements SB eg. like Bordeaux Blanc.

Made is a beautiful dry style. Grown in red metal gravel. The vintage experienced 10 days of temperatures above 35 degrees celsius. The warmest in 10 years. Spent 10 months in used oak. Fragrant white fruit blossoms, wild tropicals of; guava, passion fruit, citrus, almonds, lime, grapefruit, white peach, nectarine, melon, brioche, the softest dry powdery minerality, mellow high acidity, saline, white florals and a fantastic ripe fresh finish. Te Mata is one of the most respected producers in Hawke's Bay and the best I visited in my short stay.
