Ruby red. Alcohol and tobacco on the nose. Ripe red fruits, currants, fresh tobacco. Really lovely

Feb 10th, 2018Nose has elements of Dr. Pepper, gooseberry, blackberry leaves, rose hips. Color is the vivid, dark purple of a Syrah.
On the pop and pour, there is a large amount of alcohol burn and citric acid. A little bit of bitterness, like aspirin. Not really sure if I like it.
20 mins in and the burn and acid are breaking down. Predominantly blackberry now. There is still an off-putting bitterness and metallic element. Not sure what is going on.
