Plum, rooibos, oolong tea, dried herbs on the nose. Balance between tannins, acidity, and residual sugar is pretty much spot on. Incredibly smooth for a wine with 16.5% ABV. Cherry and ripe tomatoes on the palate with hints of savoury notes (caramelised celery perhaps). Goes well with hearty and rustic food such as meat stew or homemade ragù.

It is an incredible bottle of wine. Great nose, texture and long finish. I like it with a good pasta dish, venison stew - or just sitting in my chair listening to an Italian opera, gazing into the North Carolina Mountain Wonderland. Luckily I still have a few bottles of the delight left in the cellar
