From magnum and server with a paella with both prawns and chicken. Delicious, complex, tannins in an approachable phase (though this could take more time as well, esp in this format). Wish I had more and that the bottle of Grand Reserva 2012 I had recently was this good.

Aeration makes a huge difference with this wine. Smooth, earthy and delicious.

Strong Tempranillo. Has the tannin structure to endure for years, but is a text book, classic Rioja. Recommend a single or double decant.

From magnum with homemade duck paella. You know, because we needed something less rich after Thanksgiving. Ever so slightly cloudy. Brilliant cherry aromas with a hint of leather/dried fruit. Noticeable bitterness in the finish.
Disclaimer: I import it.

#catsandcrianza featuring a special guest Fenrir, a handsome 18lb. Maine Coon. This traditional Rioja is loaded with black cherry, lavender extract, dried clay and Earth, sweet herb, toasted marshmallow-chocolate s'mores. Kick butt wine in the Grapes of Spain set!

Dark fruit. Vanilla notes. Meadium to fuller body with heavy tannins. Opened up nicely over dinner.
