My first Austrian wine, not bad. Quite refreshing. Tropical nose with notes of pear, mineral, fresh apple. Nice smooth and subtle burn for a finish.

Wine 1 of 4 of another world tour of wines purchased at Total Wine. The
Grüner Veltliner grape is by far the most widely grown grape in Austria. The variety is a bit unusual, as it is an offspring of Traminer and St. Georgen, the second parent being of local descent in Austria. The wines can run sweet to off-dry with flavor from stone fruit to citrus. Paired this one with a Mushroom-Swiss chard quiche and was not disappointed. Great price point! ~$14 |

On the eyes: Starbright straw yellow, light stain, light legs. No floc - gas/effervescence observed.

On the nose: Unripe pear and green apple, lemon rind, vanilla, honey, and floral notes. Med- alcohol.

On the tongue: Light tannin, med+ acid, med- alcohol, effervescent with a nice round mouthfeel. Off-dry. Citrus poached pear/apple that finishes with an herbaceous mineralty. Med finish, med body.
