I expect this is a better wine than my rating indicates, but it’s not for me. Agree with other commenters that aeration and time to open up greatly improved it. Pomegranate, tart red fruit on nose... a little cedar and wood. Thin texture. Just too sour and dry for me in the mouth. More pomegranate and cranberry. Sanguine. Earthy (peat, not soil). Smoke, in an acrid way. Seriously biting. Mid and back of tongue... tip of tongue tastes practically nothing. It would certainly stand up to salt. Agree with commenters who mentioned gamey meats. — 5 years ago
Good value. Agree with other commenters who mentioned richer food and a fire. Nose like cherry brandy. Smoke, dried sour cherry, pepper in the mouth. Neapolitan pizza with crispy sausage, onions and peppers would love this wine. — 5 years ago

Much enjoyed. Adequately big for my tastes. Not too dry. Nice rounded, full bodied rich finish in the mouth. I can’t describe the nose well. Red fruit there, but husky, not “fruity” or fresh smelling. Strongly agree, “[black] tea” is a prominent flavor that also describes this wine’s “dryness” (which is almost a flavor more than a mouthfeel quality). Herbal flavors. Sweet char, like edges of pork fat. Very good structure and mouth feel. Biting dry flavors on the FRONT of palate, but NOT at the finish. I imagine it with salt forward Northern Italian flavors: capers, olive, heavily herbed fish or roasts. Good value. — 5 years ago
