Surprisingly this was the first wine I've tasted from the McLaren Vale. The winery, Kangarilla Road, is relatively young having been founded by the O'Brien family in 1997.
As expected with a South Australian Shiraz, this bottle filled the nose with dried fruid, blackberry and the subtle note of leather. On the mouth, the tannins were high, sweetness medium and acidity low. This all combined to provide a much more candied flavour than that picked up on the nose, with the blackberry scent transforming into blackberry jam and the leather fragrance appearing as sweet tobacco in the mouth.

Cherry on the nose and dry on the mouth with a long leathery finish. — 7 years ago
A feisty wine which only improves throughout the days after it is corked, as expected with a Chateauneuf-du-Pape. The pencil-like flavour seeps through whilst sweet spices and dark fruits fill the mouth.
I partnered this wine with a variety of meals, but it is said to go wonderfully with poultry and other red meats. The spices and earthy finish also makes this wine a perfect accessory to your Christmas dinner. — 7 years ago

As the ancestor of the California zinfandel grape, I was excited to try a wine witn primitivo at its heart. Thankfully, Agricola Surani certainly didn't disappoint.
On the nose I got a strong dose of ash, copper and strawberry. As it hit the mouth, the first sip was packed with acidity with a sherbet finish. As the palate becomes accustomed, it soon turned into vibrant and refreshing strawberry. When combined with the low-mid tannins, this makes for a bold wine for all year round. — 7 years ago
