Ideal expression of Amarone--heavy, fruity, with great length, but in no way syrupy (still with that distinct note on the nose that I identify with glycerin... and Amarone). Balanced by supple tannins and even a bit of acid. Incidentally, tried the 2010 vintage of the same bottle (using a Coravin) just before opening this one--initial impression was a bit more floral complexity and interest on the nose, but with grippier tannins that likely needed a few more years in the bottle to be ideal. The '09 was ready for drinking without a doubt. — 9 years ago
Red fruit on nose, some tobacco. Medium-full body and good concentration--classic Chianti in its richer variant. Maybe a hint of iodine in the finish, as others have noted here. Could use a bit more time in the bottle: Alcohol is noticeable and the tannins are a little rough, even after sitting open for an hour. Excellent overall though. — 8 years ago
Excellent Cava. Strong mineral backbone from nose to finish, balanced acidity, interesting floral note at the end. Great value. — 9 years ago

Concentrated, persistent, excellent core of acidity. Buy again (and again). — 9 years ago

Ballpark for the price--pleasant and balanced, but not much "going on." Even for $13 I've done better in Burgundy. — 9 years ago
