Sample bottle. Deep golden amber. A nose of malt and sherry, maybe some leather. Strange twang on the nose I can’t place. Round, soft mouthfeel. Sherry and some sweetness with salt. Warming finish that lasts. Simply not interesting. — 5 years ago

Sample bottle. Notes of honey and apricot/peach. Very light color, no sherry cask aging. Layers of honey on the palate with a short finish. Nice change from the usual Highlands sherry expressions. — 5 years ago

Bright golden color. Aroma of honey, baking spice, and candied oranges. Some unpleasant plastic-like smell is present in this glass bottled sample. Intensely sweet on the tongue with flavors of honey, bright fruits, and pepper. A smooth, long, warming finish. Not unpleasant but also not particularly interesting. — 7 years ago

Beautiful copper color from the Sherry cask. A nose full of peat and oak with the Sherry not far behind. There is also leather and smokiness and perhaps some dark fruits like figs or plums. The mouthfeel is smooth and oily with pepper and peat replaced by sweetness, caramel, and spice. The finish is long, warming, and pleasantly smokey. One of the best Islay has to offer. — 7 years ago

9.1

Bright golden color. Subtle peat on the nose with iodine/brine. Some oak. Bright sweetness as it hits the tongue which quickly moves towards saltiness and slight peat. The alcohol takes over with a warming and slight burning sensation as it washes down. The finish is long and warming with the smokiness of the peat taking over. Balanced yet interesting. — 7 years ago
