I'm a huge fan of Penfolds and their wine style for reds. Having tried their other current releases, this was one that I hadn't had yet. Right away you know it's a classic Australian Shiraz. Quite hot from a warm vintage and prominent alcohol. Decent fruit quality and smooth tannin with noticeable spice. I much prefer the Thomas Hyland Shiraz however or Bin 8. — 9 years ago

Very drinkable Garnacha and elegant Spanish style classic. Love the perfumed nose typical of the varietal and paired perfectly with Spanish tapas/charcuterie. Smooth tannins and high alcohol at 14.5%. Drank surprisingly smooth for that level! 9.5/10 — a year ago
2001 vintage drinking super smooth like nothing else I've ever had. Dried red and black fruit with a creaminess on the palate that was quite enjoyable. Surprising amount of fruit and has certainly aged well. Quite a lot of alcohol in this one too but overall a solid pick! — 9 years ago
Warm smooth tannin Shiraz that's easily distinguishable as an Australian. Very expressive of Mclaren Vale. — 9 years ago

Interesting wine as it isn't your standard made from grapes variety. Right away you get a tart and acidic cranberry and apple juice flavor infused with alcohol. Never had anything like this. For what it is I suppose it's good but it's not something you drink on a daily. It's similar to an alcohol based cider. Don't love it but it's not horrible. — 9 years ago
Odd Cabernet from the usual inky dark kinds. This Cab was very red towards the meniscus and with much more red fruit than black. No tannin whatsoever and alcohol wasn't overwhelming. Can't say I love it — 9 years ago
