Single vineyard (planted in 1940!), whole cluster harvested by Jean Michael Dupre. Vegetal at times??? Lots of cherry in the finish, a pop of acidity on the first sip. Nice fall evening Gamay. — a month ago

A startlingly effervescent punch on the first sip, almost Sprite-esque aggressive that gives away to a creamy lemon tart sweetness. The aggressive bubbles soften into a soft, easy finish. Like all VV, sooo easy and fun to drink, even if it’s not the most nuanced or subtle wine. Perfect for a high 80s kind of day.
Paired with a homemade chili garlic somen with crispy tofu, zucchini and green pepper (the latter played well against this one).
$9ish from K&L in Hollywood. Would buy again. — 3 months ago
Berries on the nose, the one (??) other review correctly calls out the lush berries, black tea tannins on the tongue. I get some chalky minerality, too, with a long finish and a kick of heat. Been a minute since I’ve had a Côtes du Rhônes Villages blend but this one is a nice bottle for a mid-60s fall Los Angeles evening.
