The nose is pure silk - sweet strawberry preserve, cream, Jamaican rum, and a soft earthiness. On the palate, it is a very sweet and easy Pinot - strawberries and cream come to mind, as do vanilla pod and milk chocolate, with a very moderate, red fruit acidity. The finish is buttery, barrel-y and gently refreshing. An easy going, very pleasant Pinot - nothing distinctive here, but a lot of enjoyment. — 3 years ago
Nose is not as deep or rich as I expected from a Gran Reserva, but there's definitely the typical earthy, cherry, black Forest cake, stewed red fruit aromas expected from this age of wine. On the palate, I'm getting fresh turned soil, chocolate cake with raspberry glaze, bitter medicinal herbs, and a touch of cherry liqueur. The finish is more bitter and tight than expected, medium tannins and not a lot of sweetness or even vanilla (as you would expect from a wine that's been in the barrel this long). To be honest, not my favorite temperanillo, and I should have guessed by the over decorated bottle. Whoops! — 3 years ago
A glowing pale red in color, the nose here is pure strawberry jam, sweet dessert, and a hint of fine boned minerality. On the palate it is quite the sweet treat, with berry jams / preserves and a very delicate but alluring acidity helping to moderate the dessert-like quality. The finish is clean and simple - this wine is extremely drinkable. — 3 years ago
The nose is vanilla, cherry, and a bit of smoky depth. The palate is an explosion of chocolate, raspberry, date and fig. The finish is sweet and fruit forward, with a distinct memorable barrel character. Lovely. — 3 years ago
Strawberry liquor, rose hips, and a slight plant-stalk like herbaceousness on the nose. On the palate it's a generous helping of strawberries and cream, with a gentle, refreshing tart raspberry acidity and a touch of floral complexity. The finish is clean and the wine leaves a sweet impression... My friend said it "tastes like mother's Day"! — 3 years ago
Cherry, vanilla, some river-rock minerality - fairly typical, medium-minus aromas here. On the palate - great minerality, not really fruity OR tannic, strikes a great balance and is quite clean. The finish is smooth and a little sweet - candied fruit, a little earth, a lot of pleasant. Really nice. — 3 years ago
Nose is rich marzipan and plum, fresh baked bread, fruit preserve. Palate is surprisingly dry, but satisfyingly complex with tart plum, fresh mulled earth, dark red cherries, and a pleasing tannic grip. The finish is surprisingly clean, leaving me wanting more. A lovely Riserva... Does the job just fine. — 3 years ago
On the nose, violet petals, beets, and a little tobacco. On the palate, mint, liquorice, anise, plum, and gorgeous dark fruits. Finish is pleasingly herbaceous, with moderate tannins and a mild refreshing acidity. Very little barrel detectable but still so rich and satisfying. — 3 years ago
Aroma is sharp, pungent stone fruits - peaches, underripe nectarines, apricot - with river rock and a touch of floral complexity. On the palate it is lively and sweet, like filtered apple juice, with a crabapple acidity. The finish is a little tart verging on sour, tasting more like lemon juice and citrus rind. Not a bad showing but I'm a little turned off by the purity of the tart citrus, without balance. — 3 years ago
Dane Letourneau
A velvety, deep hued wine with a big bouquet of cherry, plum, blackcurrants, and stewed fruits. On the palate it is a typical big Rhone, without anything too distinctive to set it apart - the alcohol is very present, the acidity lively, and the flavours a little muted. I love Rhone, but this sort of missed the bar in being so very average. — 3 years ago
