AIS Italian Wine Sommelier and Educator, I'm always looking for the strangest wines and grapes in the world...
Magliocco is an ancient indigenous grape from Calabria (South of Italy) which gave a light garnet colour after years in the bottle. Dark plum aromas at the nose, enriched by hints of black spices and menthol. Powerful and intense at the palate, with a good balance between freshness and alcool. Long lasting on a balsamic finish. A very good deal for 15€ at the winery! — 7 years ago
Silky tannins and ripe plum, black spices, tobacco and puffs of mint... rich-bodied and very long lasting in the mouth. Amazing bottle! — 8 years ago
Freshness and acidity very well balanced in this friulano. Fruity at the nose, with green apple and lime notes and a shade of sambuco white flowers. On the palate it confirms to be straight and refreshing, with delicate hints of tangerine and mint. A very good deal for less than 10€ at the winery. — 7 years ago
Fresh white wine from the hills of Marche region, in the heart of Italy. Smooth on the palate, with delicate hints of agrumes and peaches. Simple but refreshing, it was a perfect match with spaghetti & mussels during a seaside summer lunch. — 7 years ago
Despite some years after bottling usually are not recommended for this kind of wines, I found a very well balanced moscato, with hints of bergamot zest and sage. Delicate and sweet on the palate, with good acidity. Yum! — 8 years ago

Newly released nebbiolo, 10 years after harvest it is still young and fresh, but it already revealed hints of dried violets, blueberries, sweet tobacco and eucalyptus. Its elegant tannins at the palate, jointly with a tense and red fruit acidity, makes it really pleasant to drink immediately, but the suggestion is to keep it for other 10 years to find deeper aromas. Great job, Arpepe Winery! — 7 years ago
Light ruby in the glass, with an earthy approach at the nose, which turned into a crispy red cherry, rose and hints of eucalyptus. Elegant and stilish on the palate, but surprisingly fresh and long lasting on red orange flavour. — 8 years ago
Davide Gilioli
Elegant and stylish sparkling made in Piedmont (Alta Langa area) by 2/3 Chardonnay and 1/3 Pinot Noir. A perfect match with a small fishes tempura to start an amazing dinner at the terrace in front of the northern corner of Como Lake. Cheers! — 7 years ago
